Open lecture as part of a mentoring visit by Dr Jeffrey Burgorf from Northwestern University

Category: Events, I.1.1/IV.1.1

Please join us for an open lecture by Dr Jeffrey Burgorf of Northwestern University entitled “New horizons in the analysis of time series: from neurons to behaviours”, prepared as part of the mentoring visit under Action I.1.1/IV.1.1 “Mentoring Programme”.

Dr Burgdorf is a world-renowned expert in the neurobiology of emotion, having co-authored landmark studies on the mechanisms of positive affect and pioneered research on ultrasonic vocalisations in rodents. He also works in the pharmaceutical industry, including the development of rapastinel, a promising compound with antidepressant and neuroprotective properties.

His work focuses on the analysis of the large-scale oscillations that govern living organisms and their interrelationships: from the pulsations of individual neurons to brain waves, physiological rhythms such as heart rate or respiration, vocalisations, behaviour and diurnal cycles. The lecture will also integrate the emotional system and its fundamental role in the functioning of the whole brain into this dynamic picture.

The lecture will take place on Monday 3.03.2025 at 14:00-15:30 at the ICM UW, ul. Pawińskiego 5a, seminar room (ICM library), 5th floor.
