The launch of IDUB microgrants

One of the most important tasks of the University of Warsaw as a research university is to support its employees in implementing scientific projects and presenting their results. One way this may be achieved is through the system of internal grants which has just been launched as part of the “Excellence Initiative”.
IDUB support can be used twice a year, but not before the positive settlement of the previous activity. The condition on receiving support is obtaining consent from the Faculty Dean – or the head of an organisational unit at the University of Warsaw – to carry out the task, and confirming the contribution made by the unit. This concerns the organization of conferences by UW, funding for publications, study visits, or preliminary research.
IDUB UW microgrants are addressed to doctoral candidates and employees who are planning the following activities:
- active participation in conferences and seminars organised by associations of researchers;
- organization of a conference by UW;
- queries in foreign research institutions or institutions which support research (archives, libraries, databases, etc.);
- publication in a publishing house that has the right to index its titles in Scopus (the IDUB microgrant finances the difference between publishing costs and the planned return on sales);
- study visits to prestigious foreign scientific institutions, including universities, in order to initiate or strengthen scientific cooperation;
- preliminary research to prepare a grant project which will be conducted at the University of Warsaw and financed by external sources;
- proofreading by a native speaker of a scientific text accepted for publication in a journal, or a chapter in a monograph.
Detailed rules and the application form are available on the Microgrants website.
