20 11 2024
Reactivated in 2021 with funding from the IDUB Program, the popular science portal devoted to archaeology Archeowieści.pl was among the finalists in the “Popularyzator Nauki” competition.
Archeowieści.pl is a portal created in 2006 by an archaeology enthusiast Wojciech Pastuszko. For 10 years, the website successfully disseminated the latest scientific achievements in archaeology, palaeontology and evolutionary biology. In 2016, however, its operation was suspended, and in 2021 the portal was reactivated on the initiative of the authorities of the Faculty of Archeology at the University of Warsaw with financial support obtained in the 2nd competition under Action III.3.2 “Promotion of scientific research in the public domain”. The themes of the portal are, among others, the latest discoveries, the results of cabinet work, behind-the-scenes fieldwork, the development of museum inventories, the results of laboratory analyses, the effects of archive searches, the reality of archaeologists’ work, legal aspects or the history of the discipline. The greatest thematic emphasis is placed on the achievements of Polish archaeologists both at home and abroad.
The “Popularyzator Nauki” competition is organised by the Science in Poland website, published by the Polish Press Agency Foundation. Winners will be announced in December.
