American Book Club

21 03 2025
The March meeting of the American Club – a series of meetings of the American Studies Center at the UW and the Czarne Publishing House – will take place this coming Monday.
The main aim of the series is to promote research at the OSA UW based on American fiction and non-fiction published by Czarne Publishing House by creating a space for interdisciplinary debate in which specialists from different fields can critically analyse key figures of the American imagination and reflect on systemic problems in the United States. Rather than focusing only on the symptoms, we will delve into the causes of these phenomena, exploring their historical, cultural and economic conditions, based on research conducted within the UW’s OSA.
The second main aim is to popularise American culture and literature, to raise awareness of lesser-known American novelists, short story writers and non-fiction writers, as well as the tropes, characters and motifs they contain. This is made possible by the open formula of the series, which requires the active participation of the audience (discussion, questions).
