Category: Events, IV.4.2

The second edition of the Summer School for Doctoral Students, organised by the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the University of Warsaw in cooperation with DIW Berlin, took place on 22–24 September.

The event was organised as part of Measure IV.4.2 “International Summer Schools for PhD students and young research employees” of the “Excellence Initiative – Research University” Programme.

Twenty-four participants took part in the sessions, representing institutions such as the University of Warsaw, DIW Berlin, Warsaw School of Economics, University of Szczecin, THM Business School, Goethe University Frankfurt, Vienna University of Economics and Business, and Freie Universität Berlin.

This year’s edition was devoted to issues related to machine learning and text mining, which have been applied in economic and social research. Lectures and workshops were conducted by distinguished researchers: Prof. Michael McMahon (Oxford University) and Prof. Sophia Kazinnik (Stanford University).

The Summer School is not only an opportunity to gain specialist knowledge, but also a platform for exchanging experiences, integrating academic communities from different centres and building international cooperation networks.
