IDUB Gala

Category: Events

On 9 December 2025, a gala ceremony entitled “Our Road to Excellence” was held at the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Warsaw in Ochota, during which the university community summarised six years of implementation of the IDUB Programme.

During the event, the main elements of the IDUB Programme at the University of Warsaw were presented by its manager, Prof. Zygmunt Lalak, Vice-Rector for Research at the University of Warsaw, who emphasised, among other things, that over the course of six years, the IDUB Programme has become a common source of funding for a wide range of scientific activities and has thus become firmly established at the University. He also mentioned that thanks to the IDUB Programme, the University of Warsaw is now a much stronger research institution, and that developing solutions enabling the implementation of such a large programme in such an extensive and internally complex university was only possible thanks to the work of a whole team of people who put in a huge effort to make IDUB a success.

The gala also featured speeches by Dr Lidia Tańska, deputy manager of the IDUB programme, Diana Pustuła, manager of the International Research Programmes Office, and members of the IDUB Programme Coordination and Support Team: Justyna Piecha and Eliza Rogowska-Lasocka, as well as Dr Dominik Wasilewski, IDUB Programme coordinator.

During the gala, the units that were most active in implementing the IDUB Programme were awarded “Signposts of Excellence”:

  • “Signpost of Young People” for students from the Faculty of Physics who were most eager to take advantage of IDUB funding – in recognition of their innovative ideas, curiosity, and talent development;
  • “Guidepost of Young Researchers” for doctoral students of the Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences who most frequently implemented IDUB microgrants, in recognition of their passion for research and openness to challenges;
  • “Signpost of Hospitality” for the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, which hosted the largest number of researchers from abroad – for promoting Polish science and creating new partnerships and international bridges;
  • “Signpost of Curiosity” for the staff of the Faculty of Chemistry, who carried out the most projects in the field of their research – for their relentless pursuit of new research problems;
  • “Signpost of Discovery” for employees of the Faculty of History, who were the most eager to take advantage of research funding, in recognition of their willingness to set out on a journey – from archives to the most distant libraries – to search for traces of the past at the source;
  • “Signpost of Publications” – for researchers from the Faculty of Biology who published the most scientific papers as part of IDUB – in recognition of their exceptional activity in sharing knowledge, allowing scientific research to reach further, faster and wider;
  • “Signpost of Activity” for employees of the Faculty of Modern Languages who have completed the most IDUB microgrants – in recognition of their effective translation of ideas into action and consistent expansion of the boundaries of academic imagination.

The “Special Signpost” was awarded to the IDUB UW Team in recognition of their full commitment to the Programme’s issues and objectives, their readiness to act and seek solutions, and their unwavering faith in the potential of each project.

The second “Special Signpost” was also awarded to Ewa Mikłaszewicz, Bursar of the University of Warsaw, in recognition of her exceptional support and guidance in navigating the path between the idea and its financial implementation, as well as to the employees responsible for the University’s finances – for ensuring the transparency and effectiveness of IDUB’s financing.

The IDUB gala was hosted by Maria Golińska-Wapińska, communications coordinator in the Vice-Rector’s Office for Research and representative for doctoral school development in the Vice-Rector’s Doctoral and Legal Affairs, and Marta Burzyńska, communications representative in the Vice-Rector’s Office for Student Affairs and Quality of Teaching and Learning.
