Narcissism and intelligence

Category: III.3.2, Podcasts, Results

The aim of the project carried out at the Faculty of Psychology was to popularise reliable knowledge about personality psychology, including narcissism and intelligence, with reference to the latest research, thereby increasing awareness of what narcissism is and how people perceive intelligence.

Intelligence is a general ability of great practical importance, as it is linked to success in many areas of life, such as school, work, income, and even health and longevity. In today’s world, the concept of intelligence has gained enormous popularity, and people’s beliefs about it are linked to self-esteem, well-being and academic achievement. However, people can only assess their intelligence to a limited extent.

As part of the project, the Intelligence Cognition Emotion Lab team, consisting of Prof. Marcin Zajenkowski, Dr Maria Leniarska, Anna Turek-Wojnarowicz, MA (project manager), and Jeremiasz Górniak, MA, carried out tasks related to the development, recording, and preparation for publication of a popular science podcast devoted to personality psychology, with particular emphasis on narcissism and intelligence. During the work, a review of the literature was also carried out and the results of previous research were summarised.

The result of the project implemented under Action III.3.2 is a series of episodes published in the publicly accessible repository of the Faculty of Psychology, primarily on YouTube and other social media.
