§ 1.
Overview
- The objective of the initiative is to enable young researchers, global historians, or anthropologists affiliated with foreign universities to spend two or four weeks on study stays in Poland.
- The financial support is intended to enable visits by individual researchers. Visits by conference groups are excluded from support.
§ 2.
Applicant and application
- Applications (i.e., proposals for visits) may be submitted by doctoral students (maximum 2 years before completing doctoral studies) and young researchers (maximum 5 years after completing a doctorate)
- The application must include
- completed application form – annex to the “Regulations”,
- the CV of the visiting researcher,
- a letter of recommendation (sent directly from the person providing the reference, to the address globalhistory@uw.edu.pl),
- outline of the current research project (up to 2000 words),
- a motivation letter justifying the need for a stay in Poland,
- a research plan for the duration of the stay, taking into account the provisions of § 3,
- the name and surname of an employee from the Faculty of History of the University of Warsaw or the Institute of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology of the University of Warsaw, who will act as a supervisor.
- The application should be submitted at least 2 months before the planned arrival date.
- The visit should take place between 1 October 2025 and 15 December 2025.

- The amount allotted for a study stay is
- up to 10,000 PLN for two-week stays, or
- up to 16,000 PLN for four-week stays.

- 8. Funds from the IDUB Programme grant must be spent, documented and entered into the accounts no later than 31 December 2025.
§ 3.
The conduct of the visit
During the stay in Poland, the visiting researcher is obliged to give one lecture as part of the Marian Małowist Global History Seminar, or one of the seminars organised by the Institute of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Warsaw.
§ 4.
Assessment of the applications
- Applications in the call are accepted on an ongoing basis.
- Applications are qualified for co-financing by a three-member committee appointed by the Coordinator of Action IDUB I.3.13, within a maximum of four weeks from the date of application.
- The competition committee and its chairperson are appointed by the IDUB Programme Manager.
- When assessing an application, the committee considers the quality of the research project outline and the research plan.
- The decision to grant co-financing is made by the IDUB Programme Manager at the request of the Coordinator of Action I.3.13
§ 5.
Organisational provisions
- The arrival of the visiting researcher is regulated by Ordinance 130 of the Rector of the University of Warsaw from 12 December 2018, on the Regulations for admitting guests to the University of Warsaw and financing the costs of their stay, in particular the provisions on the Internet Registration of Foreign Guests (IRGZ).
- Tickets should be purchased through a travel agency cooperating with the University of Warsaw (WhyNotTravel).
- Reservations of accommodation in one of the hotels offering preferential rates for the University of Warsaw are made through the administration of the Faculty of History, after agreeing the details with the visiting researcher. In order to use other accommodation, the host (supervisor) must complete the applicable purchasing procedure, i.e. submit a request for quotation to at least three service providers and select the most advantageous offer in terms of price, as well as complete a purchase request form.
- The host (supervisor) is responsible for assisting with the booking of the hotel and tickets. The supervisor also fills in the forms and documents necessary for the guest’s arrival. Ticket and accommodation booking forms, as well as the guest notification form, must be signed by the Coordinator of Action I.3.13.
§ 6.
Final provisions
These terms and conditions come into force on the date of their publication.
