IDUB Programme Objective(s)

  • II. Strengthening research cooperation with internationally renowned scientific institutions
  • III. Improving the quality of education for students and doctoral candidates

Name of POB/activity group

Description

Objectives

Increasing the influence of the University of Warsaw on world science by expanding the research group and enlarging the curriculum for statistics. A key element in achieving this objective will be to provide opportunities for cooperation with leading foreign centres, both in terms of scientific research and teaching.

Justification

The statistical group at the University of Warsaw is quite small though active and successful; it has great potential, as evidenced by the fact that these researchers’ results have been published in leading journals in multiple fields. It is worth noting that the team members carry out both departmental and interdisciplinary research projects, mainly in the fields of biology, chemistry, and medicine.

Tasks and projects within the tasks

This activity includes expanding the current scientific team and broadening the curriculum in statistics, through cooperation with leading foreign centres. In particular, there are plans for the following:

  • the organisation of lectures given by researchers from internationally recognised research centres;
  • the creation of a programme of scholarships for the best candidates at the master’s level, who are planning to study statistics;
  • additional measures to support the mobility of doctoral candidates who are carrying out research as part of international cooperation;
  • additional measures to encourage the long-term employment of researchers in the field of statistics.
