The new online service “Digital Humanities at UW”

Category: I.3.6, Results

The new academic year marked the official launch of the “Digital Humanities at UW” service, where information about current events and projects in the area of digital humanities can be found – above all, those involving teams or departments at the University of Warsaw.

This service is one of the effects of Action I.3.6 “Digital humanities”, which is being implemented in POB (Priority Research Area) IV, in the “Excellence Initiative – Research University” (IDUB) Programme. As a whole, Action I.3.6 has a special focus, which is less about developing particular research areas and more directly related to reaching indicators, by offering technical support for humanities research to the entire UW community. The aim of this Action, whose implementation is carried out by the Digital Competence Centre (CKC) UW, is to strengthen the potential for humanities research at our university, both through developing new methods and digital tools, and building modern research infrastructure, all while supporting their use. The outcome will be continued support for developing competencies and scientific infrastructure, for current and future research initiatives in the area of the humanities, regardless of the subject or scientific discipline.

As part of the infrastructural work, a university platform, among other things, is being created to provide access to digital tools, as well as exchange information about digital projects in the humanities at UW. Part of that is the “Digital Humanities at UW” service. It will include information about current projects and events in the area of digital humanities – above all, those involving teams or departments at UW. The service aims to acquaint the UW community with the key topics in that area.

The staff of the service are happy to undertake subjects that are related to projects or events from the area of digital humanities at UW. Employees, doctoral candidates, and students at UW are welcome to contact: humanistykacyfrowa@uw.edu.pl.
