What were biady?

Category: III.3.2, Results

Biady are part of Poland’s intangible cultural heritage, and thanks to the research of Maciej Talaga of the Faculty of “Artes Liberales”, we have the opportunity to save them from complete oblivion.

The work carried out, located on the borderline of several humanistic fields (history, anthropology and archaeology), fulfilling the social mission of science, presents a practically extinct folk custom and the skills and knowledge associated with it. They also break the stereotype of the historian/anthropologist/archaeologist as a researcher immersed only in intangible matters and inaccessible to those outside the scientific community. Biady is also a type of martial art and as such may be of interest to those interested in the sport.

The lecture was recorded as part of a project co-financed by Action III.3.2 “Promotion of scientific research in the public domain” and is available on the YouTube channel of the Faculty of “Artes Liberales”.
