Second edition of the Program for young female researchers and teachers

Category: Events, IV.5.2, Results

The inauguration of the second edition of the program for young female researchers and teachers took place on April 16. Twenty female participants representing various organizational units of the university took part.

The event was attended by, among others, Prof. Zygmunt Lalak, UW Vice-Rector for Research, Prof. Ewa Bulska, director of the UW Biological and Chemical Research Center, chairwoman of the Program Council that supports the substantive implementation of the program, and program participants.

– We are ready to take any action that can help improve the situation of young female researchers, make administrative and financial efforts to create a system of support for young ambitious, talented people. We want to help you deal effectively with the tasks before you, said Prof. Zygmunt Lalak.

The program for young female researchers and teachers was created to counteract the phenomenon of the loss of women’s involvement in the course of scientific career development, as well as to promote the idea at the UW of the need to support the development of young talent in the field of science. The program was included in the Gender Equality Plan for the UW, as well as in the Action Plan that is part of the HR Strategy for Researchers at the UW for 2022-2027.

The second edition of the program will last until December 2025. The participants will be mentored by female mentors. They will also take part in individual counselling on scientific career development, training courses specially designed for them, and coaching.

The program is implemented with funds from Action IV.5.2 “Programme for young female researchers and teachers”.
