We invite you to take part in online training sessions and workshops for the editors and editorial staff of periodicals published by the University of Warsaw.

There are three training sessions and workshops as part of the following activities:

  • I.2.1. Improvement of publishing capacities
  • I.2.2. Building regional impact through an excellent dissemination
  • V.3.5. Program for the development and improvement of the researcher’ ‟soft skills”

Presenter

Dr inż. Katarzyna Gaca-Zając
Dr. inż. Katarzyna Gaca-Zając is a graduate of the University of Strathclyde, with nearly a decade of academic research and teaching experience in Europe; her areas of specialisation are in polymer chemistry and testing the kinetics of chemical reactions. She is currently the Senior Customer Consultant at Elsevier for the Central/Eastern European region; she is an expert in the field of databases and solutions for researchers. She is passionate about work ethics and scientific communication, as well as issues in the field of bibliometrics, at large.

Presenters

Dr. Mireia Guardingo, Head of Editorial Outreach, Web of Science
Dr. Mireia Guardingo holds a degree in Chemistry from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and a PhD in Chemistry from the same University and the Catalan Institute on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2). Mireia joined Clarivate in 2020 as Head of Editorial Outreach; before joining Clarivate, she was Knowledge Management Technician at the Bellvitge Institute of Biomedical Research (IDIBELL) where she managed the institute’s research activity information. Prior to her time at IDIBELL she held several editorial roles at the open access publisher MDPI, she was part of the editorial team of the journal Molecules and Managing Editor of the International Journal of Turbomachinery, Propulsion and Power. She also represented the company at scientific events and coordinated editorial activities between the company’s offices in China and teams in Barcelona.

Florin Craciun, Account Director in Publisher & Associations, Scientific and Academic Research
Florin has been working with publishers, research institutions and academic libraries for well over 15 years now and operated effectively in various commercial or product evangelist roles in Europe and the Middle East. As Business Development Director for Clarivate, he works with publishing executives, editors, production, and marketing directors to help them achieve better outcomes through digital transformation for their journals and publishing programs.

Marcin Kapczynski, Solution Consultant and Customer Education Specialist, Scientific and Academic Research
At Clarivate Analytics formerly Thomson Reuters Intellectual Property & Science since 2010. His primary area of interest was measurement of individual differences, intelligence, cognitive styles, interpersonal competence and intellect diagnosis. His main role is to provide a support for a research analytical and discovery tools such as Web of Science, InCites or Journal Citation Reports and also share an understanding and promote bibliometrics. He works with researchers, publishers, academics and librarians at all levels but also cooperate with governmental and corporate institutions offering his consultancy services.

The consultation includes individual dialogue with an expert in academic databases and solutions by Elsevier for researchers.

Four Sixteen 30-minute sessions are planned, where representatives of editorial teams (max. 3 people at one session) may discuss various issues concerning indexation, standards, or guidelines for periodicals, and also ask specific questions about their own periodicals.

The consultation session may include up to four editorial teams. In the event of greater interest, it will be possible to organise several additional consultation sessions at a later date.

Only those applications which fulfil the following guidelines will be processed:

  • complete personal data of the participants (first and last names, the organisational unit at UW, email addresses);
  • the represented periodical (its full title, ISSN number, a link to its webpage);
  • ONE (1) selected session;
  • the title of the email should include: „Konsultacje Scopus – NAZWA CZASOPISMA – sesja (numer)” (for instance, Konsultacje Scopus – Journal of Agriculture – sesja 3) / “Scopus Consultation – Journal of Agriculture – session 3”).

Requests should be sent to: joanna.lewczuk@adm.uw.edu.pl. Only properly prepared applications will be accepted. Requests which have been accepted will be confirmed with a link for access to the workshop. The organisers reserve the right to respond only to those requests which have been approved.  The sign-ups are managed in the order of receipt (on a first-come, first-served basis).
